2023 Vision Board

Initially, my first post of the year was going to be a 2022 recap, but then I thought, I don’t want to keep revisiting the past. That is to say, let’s focus on the present and what’s ahead, so here we are to talk about

ALL THINGS VISION BOARD✨

If you’ve done one before, thought about making one, or simply seen someone do it on TikTok, keep reading. But if vision boards aren't really your thing, that’s ok, this post is still for you too. Here's the thing...vision boards are not this magical thing that makes all of your dreams come true. Just like prayer or manifestation, it actually takes putting in the work. Vision boards are supposed to act as an active reminder and to help motivate you and encourage positive choices toward achieving those goals. Think of your board as your “WHY”.WHY are you saving money, WHY are you waking up at 6 am, WHY do you want to heal yourself, etc etc...Now, they don’t have to all be tangible goals, they can be pretty much anything from, growing your spirituality, attending more social events, or having a more positive mindset. Here’s a quick step-by-step on how to start your perfect vision board:

  1. Take your time to reflect and write down your short-term and/or long-term goals, big and small. As I said before, it can be anything so write it all down. Basically, a giant brain dump!

  2. Categories these goals. This step is not for everyone, I just tend to like my board separated by category. Others like it a bit more abstract (which is ok).

  3. Time to get crafty. Make a trip to your local Dollorama or Michael's and buy a piece of cardboard, markers, pens, glitter, you name it. Also, you’ll need used magazines, newspapers, or printed images from the internet. If you don’t have any of these, no problem. There are no rules. Meaning, your board can all be words you write yourself or all images from Pinterest. Anything goes. After all, this is for you, so really make it your own.

  4. Have a party. Get some friends over and do it together. You guys can share ideas, order some food, have some wine and make it a fun night!

  5. Make it visible. This is probably the key to it all. Your vision board needs to be visible to you throughout the day. It is not effective if you simply tuck it under your bed to catch dust. I suggest putting it in a nice frame and hanging it in your home office, bedroom or even bathroom.

Some final thoughts. The goals on your board don’t need to be accomplished within that year. Some goals can stay on that board for a few years, and that’s ok. The idea is to keep aiming for the things you want most out of life! I'll be doing mine this week and here are just a few goals on my list for 2023:

  • 3:07 (personal fitness goal)

  • Yearly family trip tradition (family)

  • Career growth (career)

  • 10k per quarter (finances)

  • Read more books - 1/month (personal)

Be intentionally consistent. Achieve your goals. You got this.
