Social-distancing?
The world is currently going through a time of social distancing due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Before I start this blog post, I want to say that I hope you and your family are doing well and that you’re staying safe.
During this period of isolation, I understand that it can be lonely and borderline boring for some. For me, I’ve been able to shift my mentality and use it as a time for productivity! If you’re someone wondering how you can make the best out of this situation? Read on…
Books
If you’re a reader like me, pick up an oldie but goodie and read it again. You can also choose to pick up that book that’s been sitting on your shelf collecting dust for over 9 months... If reading isn’t really your thing, this is the best time to give it a shot.
Workout
Stay active or get moving! We have all made excuses in the past as to why we can't workout, what's the excuse now? Mother of 2 or single with pets, there is an abundance of free workout platforms online to suit every situation. For the ones that are used to attending the gym, I would highly recommend Noelle Benepe (workout plans) @noellebenepe (Instagram).
Cooking
If you’re a foodie like me, but normally wouldn’t have the time to cook a different meal every day? This is the time to experiment and try those Gordon Ramsey recipes you’ve been binge-watching on Youtube.
Organize
Have you heard of Marie Kondo? If not, Google it or even check her out on Netlfix. Anyway, whether it’s your closet, drawers, kitchen pantry, or garage; it could use some TLC (and you know it)! The KonMari Method is what's gonna get you right.
Learn a new skill
We all have hidden talents within us, so why not discover them? The internet has many tools to get some training and development courses such as Skillshare and Udemy. Fun fact: Smart Serve Ontario is currently offering free online training for the month of April! Don’t want to commit to something long-term? Try learning a new TikTok dance!
Self-care
Last but not least, you should work on yourself. Take the time to give yourself that love. I am always on the run on a regular basis, so I make it a priority to take care of my physical and mental while in isolation. What works for me is not skipping on my skin and hair routine. Maintaining healthy hair and skin is all part of self-love.
There are so many other things for you to do during this time, these are only suggestions based on what I have found to be useful for me. This post isn’t to disregard the sadness you might be feeling during this time. My hope is simply to bring some light to this situation by giving you some alternative activities to keep your mind off of what you can’t do and take control of what you can do.
I would love to hear what you are doing to pass the time!
